Privacy policy

No accounts and no advertising business. What we measure, why, and how to opt out.

Last updated 19 August 2026.

This policy covers magnificlabs.org. Our products are deep in development; when one of them collects anything, this policy will be updated before it ships, and the change will be noted here.

What this website collects

Nothing that identifies you by name, and the site has no login and no accounts. We do not run advertising pixels and we do not sell or share anything with advertisers.

We would like to measure how the site is used, with Google Analytics — but only if you say yes. On your first visit you will see a notice at the bottom of the page with an Accept and a Decline button. Until you choose Accept, no analytics script is loaded, no request is made to Google, and no cookie is set.

If you accept, Google Analytics records which pages you visit, when, roughly where you are in the world, and what kind of browser and device you used. It stores a random identifier in a cookie in your browser — _ga and one beginning _ga_ — so that repeat visits within a session are counted as one person rather than several. That identifier is not tied to your name or your email, and we never try to connect it to one. Loading the script also tells Google's servers your IP address. Google processes this as our provider and reports back to us in aggregate.

If you decline, we remember only that you declined, stored in your own browser rather than in a cookie sent to us.

You can change your mind at any time. "Analytics settings" at the foot of every page brings the notice back. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal we treat that as a decline and never ask.

Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs — IP address, requested page, timestamp, browser user agent — for security and to keep the site running. Those logs are kept for a short period and are not used to build a profile of you.

Fonts and external files

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Requesting a font tells Google's servers your IP address and browser. If you would rather it didn't, a content blocker will stop it and the site still works — it will simply use your system fonts.

When you email us

If you write to hello@magnificlabs.org we keep your message, your address, and anything you chose to include, for as long as it takes to deal with it and for a reasonable period after. We use it to reply to you and nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or add you to a mailing list unless you asked to be added.

If you asked to hear when something ships, we keep your address until you ask us to remove it. One line in an email is enough.

Who else sees your data

Only the services we need to run: our hosting provider, our email provider, Google (for analytics and for the typefaces), and the code host at github.com. Each of them sees only what their job requires. We do not share your information with anyone else, and there is no advertising business here to share it with.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. If you are in the UK or EU, that right is set out in the GDPR, and you may also complain to your local data protection authority. Write to hello@magnificlabs.org and we will deal with it within 30 days.

Children

Our sites and products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be mentioned on the blog rather than made quietly.
